Every song started as a basic melody and words that came from simple praise and struggles throughout my day. The Lord spoke to me several years ago saying, “I have given you many diamonds and they have fallen through your fingers into the drain because you haven’t written them down.” Writing and arranging original music for choir and band seemed like such an enormous task. I didn’t know how Pachelbel’s “Canon in D” could work in a worship setting or how I could write a contemporary song around the traditional chorus, “Alleluia,” but the melodies and words came together as I was faithful to listen to the Lord and write them down. This project has taken me on a journey and I hope it will bless your life and “Awaken Your Soul” to seek and praise our awesome God.
